We have seen larger paddlers do very well on the canoe.  Try one and see if it works for you!

Moveable seat so canoe can accomodate up to 6’6″ paddler.  Very responsive and great in the surf.  Just like with board surfing, the Pegasus maneuverability allows you to charge all over the face of the wave so you won’t pearl – like a short board – fun!!!
